“It is my great pleasure to welcome you to St Leonard’s CE Primary School. If your child is joining us for the first time, we welcome you as parents or carers and look forward to a happy and successful association over the coming years. If you already have a child here, we are pleased to cement these links between us. We hope your child will have a happy and rewarding time here before moving on and continuing their education.”
Mrs Kay Ferriday – Head Teacher

World Ocean Day
Everyone had a great day celebrating World Ocean Day. We collected recycled plastic and created large sea creatures out of the plastic. We then collected all the rubbish and put in the recycling bins.
FOSLS very kindly gave a prize for the best KS1 and KS2 costume, there were lots of fantastic entries! A very big ‘Well Done’ to Oliver and Erin who won the prizes on the day.
Congratulations to our Orienteering teams who, after being successful at the Oldbury Wells School orienteering, took part in the Dudmaston course and did extremely well – especially our B team who came 2nd overall and have booked themselves a place in the Shropshire Summer Games Finals later this year. Well done team St Leonards.
Forest School Shelter
We would like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to Mr Jones who organised the build for our new Forest School shelter. We would also like to thank all the volunteers who came along to help! The new shelter looks fantastic!
Indoor Athletics Competition
Great news! At a recent indoor athletics competition, both teams performed really well; the boys finished in 4th place (out of 11 schools) and the girls came out in 1st place after beating St John’s by 1 point in the final relay! Beating 10 other schools, this means the girls will be heading to the Shropshire Winter Games finals to represent East Shropshire – this is a brilliant result. Congratulations and well done to everyone who took part!
Britain in Bloom
St Leonard’s were gold medal winners in the Schools Category of Heart of England in Bloom. This is the second year running that we have been awarded the highest accolade in the competition. St Leonard’s Gardening and ECO club is run voluntarily by one of our TA’s and our Chair of Governors. Children take part enthusiastically and the whole school is involved in achieving the criteria for the award.
