“It is my great pleasure to welcome you to St Leonard’s CE Primary School. If your child is joining us for the first time, we welcome you as parents or carers and look forward to a happy and successful association over the coming years. If you already have a child here, we are pleased to cement these links between us. We hope your child will have a happy and rewarding time here before moving on and continuing their education.”
Mrs Kay Ferriday – Head Teacher
February Half Term – 19th February to 23rd February 2018. We will return to School on Monday 26th February 2018.
We received one nomination for the Parent Governor vacancy and Mrs Nerys Arch has been re-appointed to the Governing Body as from 15th January 2018.
Indoor Athletics Competition
Great news! At a recent indoor athletics competition, both teams performed really well; the boys finished in 4th place (out of 11 schools) and the girls came out in 1st place after beating St John’s by 1 point in the final relay! Beating 10 other schools, this means the girls will be heading to the Shropshire Winter Games finals to represent East Shropshire – this is a brilliant result. Congratulations and well done to everyone who took part!
Britain in Bloom
St Leonard’s were gold medal winners in the Schools Category of Heart of England in Bloom. This is the second year running that we have been awarded the highest accolade in the competition. St Leonard’s Gardening and ECO club is run voluntarily by one of our TA’s and our Chair of Governors. Children take part enthusiastically and the whole school is involved in achieving the criteria for the award.
Rotary Club visits St Leonard’s
We have recently had a special visit from the Rotary Club who came to plant crocus bulbs at St Leonard’s. They donated 2000 blubs to us as part of their campaign to raise awareness of and eradicate polio globally through vaccination.
